DrumKit Arduino
DrumKit was designed by Anasha Cummings, Joe DiLuzio, and Dan Zollman in a product design course at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The course is part of a Design, Innovation, and Society (DIS), an interdisciplinary design major based in the social sciences.
Andrew Emerson and Mickey Hyland also participated in the oscilloscope project. Special thanks to Ron Eglash as well as the students and teachers we worked with during the project.
Anasha studies product design, sustainability, and technological entrepreneurship at RPI and has interests in philosophy and education. Both in the RPI community and at his home in Sante Fe, he is a leader among programs in community development, education, and sustainability.

I am a dual major Mechanical Engineer and Design Innovation and Society student. I still have that idealistic glow that seems to fade with age as you become more exposed to the harsh realities of the world. I believe in hard work and accomplishing the goals that are put in front of me. This project means much to me because it is the first project I have finished to the point I wanted to. We managed to tackle all the large hurdles in creating something; the code, the circuitry, the hardware, and the ever important ‘wow factor’. I honestly believe that this device can accomplish our mountain of a goal: to get children who would otherwise never consider a career in programming, to become interested in the hardware, software, and electronics involved in our device.
Dan focuses on user experience, interaction, and design strategy in both product and website design. He is fascinated by psychology, culture, philosophy, and their implications for the design process. He is currently doing independent research on social theory, design, and HCI.
Dan publishes his articles and projects at insteadofthebox.com.
